About Go Eco Store
The staff at Go Eco Store wanted to improve their lifestyle to be more Eco friendly and started to look at what was available in the high street.
We struggled to find many suitable products so investigated the “independent” market. It became obvious that there were a great number of products available but it was difficult to tell which ones offered real value for money. So with this in mind we felt that there would also be many other people trying to do the same thing, and so Go Eco Store was born …..
Go Eco Store are trying to help everyone to support their Eco lifestyle by offering a range of products which are not only better for our planet but also kinder on your pocket. We have spent a great deal of time evaluating many products that are eco friendly and have brought together a selection of products that in our opinion offer high quality and great value for money.
We assessed the eco qualities of each item, evaluated their performance and then compared the cost of using these items to similar products available in the high street. You will find our value for money assessment against each product on our website with it being expressed in the following ways:
- Cost per use for all our cleaning products – as these are all concentrates the product will cost more money but every item we sell is actually cheaper when taking the cost per use compared to those available in supermarkets. For example the Oven & BBQ cleaner at £4.00 works out to only 25p per use because due to it being more effective than an aerosol can costing £2.00 which is probably used up in 2/3 applications.
- Life cycle costs for lighting / energy savers – whilst all these products will cost more initially, over a period of a year you will actually save money as the energy usage is lower so running costs are cheaper. For example the LED GU10 light bulb at £5.99 lasts for 20,000 hours and uses only 1W of electricity. This compared to a normal halogen bulb at around £1.50 which lasts for 1,000 hours and uses 50W of electricity. If you used a halogen bulb for an average 3 hours per day, during the year you would buy 2 halogen bulbs and consume 55kW of electricity giving a total cost for the year of £8.50. Compare this to the LED bulb which would use 2kW of electricity and cost £6.20 for the year, and then the LED bulb will continue to last for another 20 years!
- Equivalent cost for stationery / gifts etc. – these have all been benchmarked against other products to ensure we only selected those that compared on price and quality, so you won’t be paying anymore than you would in the high street. For example the recycled pencils made from old CD cases costing £1.35 compare favourably with similar wooden pencils available in well-known stationery shops.
- Quality of product for clothing/textiles – we stock a number of products which are either organic cotton or bamboo, in our opinion all of which offer better quality garments than the traditional cotton. The product's quality extends the usable life, washes at lower temperatures, remains soft and keeps that “new” look much longer, all on top of being better for the environment. For example the men’s black bamboo socks at £2.75 still remain soft and silk like even after 50 washes, while normal cotton socks start to deteriorate much sooner.
All our products are better for the environment, offer high quality, perform well compared with similiar high street items and offer great value for money ….
